Teruel: Economy and Key Industries

Teruel’s economy is largely driven by agriculture, livestock farming, and tourism. The city and its surrounding province are known for producing high-quality agricultural products, particularly Teruel’s famous Jamón (ham), which holds a Denomination of Origin (DO) status. The region’s cured hams are sought after throughout Spain and are an essential part of local gastronomy.

Tourism is another key economic sector, especially thanks to Teruel’s unique Mudejar architecture, cultural festivals, and paleontological treasures. Dinópolis, one of the largest dinosaur parks in Europe, is a major draw for families and has significantly contributed to local tourism.

In addition to agriculture and tourism, Teruel is known for its artisanal crafts, particularly ceramics, which have deep historical roots in the region. These industries contribute to the city’s economic diversity, making Teruel a hub of traditional crafts, local food production, and cultural tourism.
