Antigua: Architecture and Attractions

Antigua’s architecture reflects its historical agricultural roots, with traditional Canarian homes and well-preserved windmills being some of the most notable structures in the town. The Molino de Antigua, in particular, is a must-see, as it also houses a museum that highlights the region’s agricultural history. This windmill, surrounded by a botanical garden filled with native plants, serves as a unique cultural and educational attraction.

One of the town’s architectural gems is the Church of Nuestra Señora de Antigua, a beautiful 18th-century structure that stands at the heart of the town. Its whitewashed walls and simple, yet elegant design are emblematic of traditional Canarian church architecture.

For nature lovers, the nearby Caldera de Gairía, a volcanic crater, offers hiking opportunities and stunning views of the island’s volcanic landscape. The town is also close to Caleta de Fuste, a popular beach resort where visitors can enjoy golden sands and calm waters.
