San Javier is situated on the southeastern coast of Spain, within the province of Murcia, and lies on the western shores of the Mar Menor, a unique saltwater lagoon separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a narrow sandbar known as La Manga. The city is about 50 kilometers south of Murcia, the region’s capital, and is well-connected to nearby cities such as Cartagena, a historic port city, and Alicante, a popular tourist destination.
The coastal location of San Javier ensures that it enjoys a Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot, dry summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from around 30°C (86°F) in summer to a pleasant 15°C (59°F) in winter, making it an attractive destination year-round. However, the best times to visit are in spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November), when the weather is warm but not excessively hot, perfect for outdoor activities, festivals, and events.
