Monserrat: Local Cuisine

Monserrat, like much of the Valencian region, is renowned for its delicious Mediterranean cuisine. One of the most famous dishes from the region is paella, a rice-based dish cooked with a variety of ingredients such as chicken, rabbit, seafood, or vegetables. Monserrat’s paella, prepared using locally sourced ingredients, is a must-try for visitors.

Other traditional dishes include “arròs al forn” (baked rice) and “fideuà,” a seafood dish similar to paella but made with noodles instead of rice. Local produce, such as oranges and almonds, also features heavily in Monserrat’s cuisine, and visitors can enjoy fresh, locally grown fruits at the town’s weekly market.

For a sweet treat, “turrón” (a nougat-like confection) is a local specialty, especially during festivals and holidays. The town is also known for its excellent local wines and liqueurs, many of which can be sampled at nearby vineyards or local bars and restaurants.
